School Receptionist/Admin

Location: Beam County Primary School, Dagenham, Essex, RM10 9ED
Grade: (Scale 4) pro-rata: £23, 400 – £24,684.00 dependent upon outstanding customer experience
Hours:  35 hours per week, term time + 10 days 
Contract Term time only + 10 days 

We are looking for a self-motivated and experienced Receptionist with Administrative experience to work alongside our existing busy Office and Senior Leadership Team, who is able to work in line with our values of being ready, respectful and safe.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with charm and who is calm under pressure. They should be a team player who enjoys a mix of routine and ad hoc tasks. The successful candidate will be positive, responsive and have a flexible attitude to work, The candidate will need to have customer service experience as our school values are striving, inspiration and community.  

 You will need to be able to demonstrate: 

  • A firm commitment to our school’s ethos of team working and excellence in service levels. 
  • Outstanding Customer Service to provide first-class customer experience and service to our stakeholders 
  • A flexible approach to the work and ability to work both independently and as a team. 
  • The ability to stay calm and focused under pressure with the ability to multi-task 
  • Effective communication and organisational skills with a positive and proactive approach work 
  • The aptitude and willingness to learn Integris G2 
  • Experience with Inventory Systems or another signing-in system 

Duties will include: 

  • Answering the school telephone and providing support to parents and other stakeholders 
  • Front reception duties – meeting and greeting our customers – pupils, parents, staff and other visitors 
  • Providing a confidential administrative service to the school 
  • Providing confidential assistance and support to the Headteacher/Finance/ Attendance Officer and Pupil Administrator
  • Providing support and admin to the SLT (Senior Leadership Team)  
  • Administration relating to pupil attendance – INTEGRIS 
  • Draft letters, emails, reports, newsletters 
  • Assisting and supporting staff 
  • Assisting with data management on Integris G2 
  • Admissions and applications 
  • Year End procedures 
  • Census 
  • Assisting with providing support to the Governing Body 
  • Reception and general office duties 
  • Managing email/post

Grade: Grade 4 / spinal point 7  (£23,400)
Hours: 08.00 – 15.00
Contract Temp for 1 year (with possibility to extend)

 Beam County Primary School wish to appoint a caring individual who is able to work in line with our values of being ready, respectful, and safe.

At Beam we have pupils with a broad range of medical needs and the main areas of responsibility will be:

  • To be the first point of contact in respect of administering first aid for students and staff
  • To be the named responsible officer for all first aid matters
  • To ensure the highest standards of clinical procedures are maintained
  • To liaise with parents/carers and medical personnel to ensure the health needs of students are satisfied
  • To be responsible for sufficient stock of first aid consumables and equipment
  • To meet with outside agencies such as CAMHS, the Local Authority, NHS, social care, site police officers, local GP’s and dentists and opticians and implement care plans from those meetings

The successful applicant will need basic knowledge of Safeguarding Children and experience in a similar position.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Being responsible for the Health & Safety and compliance of the Medical Room
  • Being responsible for all student medication at the School
  • Contacting parents with regard to student medication stock
  • To use Medical Tracker, along with all other staff members, to keep logs of all first aid incidents, medication and medical conditions

Person Specification:

  • Nursing or First Aid qualification
  • Experience of either working in a care home, hospital or specialist provision.
  • A good standard of education, including English and Mathematics, GCSE or equivalent
  • Awareness of current Public Health Services
  • Awareness of current developments in School
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and confidentiality
  • Some understanding of infection control
  • Knowledge of the social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Working with Children and Families
  • Experience in organising and managing support for students
  • Experience in managing training for staff and managing logs
  • Able to analyse reporting log data and first aid log data for patterns and trends
  • Supporting pupils in class
