About Us
We expect children to attend school each day and to be on time. Lateness disrupts the lesson for other children and is taken very seriously at Beam. The school has a policy of texting and or telephoning families on the first day of absence to see why your child is not in school. This policy is in place to keep your child safe. To avoid the need to call you, we ask all parents and carers to ring the school if your child is not well.
School Day: (Soft Start) 8:30am – 3:15pm.
Each classroom is open from 8:30AM for a Soft Start. Children are encouraged to come in for the Soft Start as it allows for a smoother start to the school day and it provides an opportunity for :
- Adult support
- Peer learning
- Recap opportunities
- Spelling reinforcement
- Mental arithmetic practice
The school gates will be open from 8:30am – 8:45 every morning.

Behaviour
At Beam we work closely with parents/carers to promote the highest expectations of children’s behaviour. If your child’s behaviour becomes a cause of concern, the Assistant Headteacher or Attendance Officer will contact you to invite you to a meeting in school to discuss and resolve the situation.
School Lunch
Children may have a school lunch, bring a packed lunch or choose to go home for lunch.
Free School Meals
Even though all children in reception, year 1 and year 2 in state funded schools in England are eligible for Free School Meals, it is very important that you let us know if you may be entitled to free school meals. You may be allowed free school meals if you or your partner are in receipt of: Income Support, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 or Child Tax Credit. We also further subsidised trips for pupils that received Free School Meals (FSM). Please click this link if you feel that your child may be entitled to a Free School Meal and complete the online application via Barking and Dagenham’s webpage . If you need assistance completing the form, please visit the office and we will assist.
There is a choice of menu and a wide variety of food types available. Halal meat and vegetarian options are available every day. Most dietary requirements are catered for, please press here to see our school menu which identifies the allergens. Water is provided and children are encouraged to eat a healthy balanced diet.
Children staying with a packed lunch may bring a drink. Please do not send children to school with cans or glass containers.
Uniform
We do have a school uniform and all children must wear it. We also offer Preloved uniform which can be purchased from the school office.
