Everyone at Beam County Primary School is committed to ensuring that the life chances of the children in our school are significantly improved because of the work we do. We believe that every child does matter and that every interaction counts. We take the view that everyone is on a learning journey. We believe in a no limited approach to learning and achievement and as a result look forward to seeing children succeed and thrive.
Avoiding discrimination and promoting equality supports the agenda of improving the attainment and progress of all pupils, regardless of their circumstances and backgrounds.
Under the Equality Act, 2010 schools need to carry out accessibility planning for disabled pupils. Schools must implement accessibility plans which are aimed at:
- increasing the extent to which disabled pupils can participate in the curriculum;
- improving the physical environment of schools to enable disabled pupils to take better advantage of education, benefits, facilities, and services provided; and
- improving the availability of accessible information to disabled pupils.
We have carefully considered and analysed the impact of our policies in regards to equality and the possible implications for pupils with protected characteristics, as part of our commitment to meet the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) requirement to have due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.
