Parental Support Advisor
I would like to introduce myself for those of you that do not know me or have not met me.
I work in the PSA Room which can be accessed via the school office.
I support children and their families to get the most from the educational opportunities on offer and also to help with the everyday stresses of modern-day life.
Parenting isn’t an easy job and at times things can get tough – finances are often stretched to the limit and problem behaviour can be really upsetting. Mrs. Huskie is here to help you deal with any worries or concerns you have about your child and to help you tackle any home issues that are making school life really difficult for you and your family. If she cannot help you, Mrs. Huskie can refer you to specialist agencies or support services if you wish.
Mrs. Huskie has a wealth of experience with supporting parents with a wide variety of problems and is in school to support you. She works full time and is often in the school playground in the morning. She can give advice about many issues facing parents today. It would be hard to make a definitive list but she will help with such issues as:
I am here to help and assist in the following:
- Acting as a link between home and school.
- Going to meetings with you.
- Promoting regular attendance.
Family support:
- Are you going through a crisis, need advice about finances, housing, benefits, and transition to different schools?
- Are you coping with medical/issues or illness?
- Feeling isolated and lonely?
Or
Do you just need a listening ear or advice about a particular issue?
Courses are also held in my room throughout the year e.g.: Parent Gym, Baby Massage Classes, and English Conversation Club. The Adult College also run Numeracy and Literacy courses for parents.
