'Teaching For Mastery' KS1 and KS2

At Beam, we use 'Teaching for Mastery' approach as the foundation for our Maths curriculum. One of the main aspects of 'Teaching for Mastery' is the concrete-pictorial-abstract approach (CPA) teaches children key concepts and mathematical structures using concrete manipulatives, and enabling them to explore different representations before abstractly apply this understanding.  Click on the following link to watch videos on how you can support your child at home.

Times tables

Times tables are an important life skill that will be used by children throughout their education, as well as adult life. Securing times tables early enable children to store multiplication facts in their long -term memory and reduce cognitive load.  At Beam, pupils have access to TTRockstars in school and at home. Times Tables are an area of mathematics that parents can easily support at home. See below for a parent guide to using the website at home.
